Utah 2002
Day 1
On the first day of our trip we drove from San Diego to Beaver in Utah. It was a 550 mile long ride on freeways through California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah. There was little time for side trips. After 10 hours of driving and in anticipation of one week of camping, we granted ourselves a shower, and therefore stayed in a motel for the night. Below are three of our Jeeps and four of our drivers in front of our luxurious inn.
One party had a Jeep that provided little protection from wind and weather. It had no roof and no side walls. The doors had no windows and were made of canvas. Despite temperatures close to freezing, the heroic couple saw no reason for complains. With their big goggles and fur hats they looked like pilots of an old bi-plane rather than leisurely vacationers.
