February 2006: Rock Climbing in Joshua Tree National Park

Check box, if you don't want to see pop-up windows when enjoying full-size pictures.

In February, I spent a weekend with a few friends in Joshua Tree National Park for rock climbing. Rock climbing is an old passion of mine, which I practiced while studying physics in Munich. I often went climbing after lessons. But circumstances changed I haven't been scaling rocks for more than 10 years. At Joshua Tree, we attended a course. Our instructor was Steve Gerberding who holds the world record in climbing Yosemite's El Capitan: 104 ascents and counting. He was a great guy, we had great fun, and I was delighted that I was still able to climb 10a-rated rock faces.
