April 2009: Easter in the Desert

Check box, if you don't want to see comments when enjoying full-size pictures.

Annie and I spent Easter in the Anza Borrego Desert. On Saturday, we hiked from Borrego Spring to San Ysidro Mountain. It was a steep cross-country hike with lots of scrambling over loose rocks. We were all by ourselves and the view from the top was quite spectacular.

On the way down, we passed two small mountains called Kay and Ode. It was almost night when we hit civilization again and the Santa Rosa Mountain Range was glowing in red and pink colors.

We stayed overnight in Glorieta Canyon and were enjoying our camp fire, wine, and food. When we woke up the next morning, there were Easter Eggs all around our tent. The desert bunnies must have been quite active during the night and even decorated cacti with friendly looking eggs.
