We rented a motor home and cruised through California for two weeks. We visited four National Parks, and drove along California's famous coast. It was a most exiting trip featuring amazing landscapes, the lowest point in the western hemisphere, 14,000-feet-high mountains, wild animals, the best rainbow I've ever seen, archaic trees, deserts, lush mountain meadows, glacier-shaped valleys, and a stormy Pacific. We saw the largest tree on Earth, a black bear, fighting elephant seals, a tarantula, fierce coyotes, deer, cute chipmunks, and soaring falcons.

The red line on the map below shows our travel route. Just click on the yellow fields with a day number to see the illustrated travelogue of each day (there are 77 pictures in total!), ...

The green stars show the places where we stayed over night. Move your mouse over the stars to see the names of the campgrounds. If you move your mouse over the yellow day-fields without clicking, you'll see the destinations of each day.

But wait, there is more! After my mom had returned to Germany I went with some friends over Thanksgiving Weekend to Death Valley. It was my second trip to the National Park within two weeks! We camped at a very remote place, which was only accessible with high clearance vehicles. We saw old mines, vast plains, colorful rock formations, and also some jack rabbits. If you are still not fatigued, here are ten more pictures from this fascinating trip!
